John was born and raised in South Houston, TX where he found skateboarding as a 5th grader. For all of his teenage years he enjoyed excelling at skating while caring for little more in life than his friends and good skate spots. During his 11th grade year he achieved sponsorship status with a skateboarding company and began competing and touring the state. His "success" soon left him feeling empty and unsatisfied and it wasn't until college that John realized he would not be right with God unless he submitted all of his passions and gifts to the progression of the Gospel of Jesus.

Since then God has blessed him with the ability to meet and share life with people of all ages and interests as he submits his gifts to God daily. As a "jack of all trades" he loves making folk, rockabilly and bluegrass music, working with classic auto and home restoration, building an urban homestead, cruising low rider bikes, reading western novels, teaching guitar, dominating in basketball and of course riding a skateboard.

One of his main goals in speaking to students around the country is to help them understand how God has shaped them uniquely with passions and abilities and how He wants to use them to glorify Himself in their lives. Although he naturally relates to un-churched skateboarders and musicians, the majority of students he teaches and disciples throughout the year would be considered "mainstream" junior high and high school students.

Presently, John serves the local community of Brenham, Texas as the youth minister at Brenham's First Baptist Church and director of Middleman Skateboards, an outreach ministry for the skateboarding community. He is blessed by a wonderful wife, Mandi and two beautiful children, Dylin and Levi.
